About the Christchurch YMCA
Established in 1862, the Christchurch YMCA is a Charitable Trust. Our
Mission is "Christian action through community programmes" and all are
welcome regardless of gender, age or religion as we help to build
stronger young people, families and communities. The Christchurch YMCA
is a member of the NZ Council of YMCAs and is affiliated to the World
Alliance of YMCAs.

Carols by Candlelight
Our annual Christmas Carols festival is held in Victoria Square on
Christmas Eve. Singing commences at 9pm and will finish at 10pm.
Thousands attend this free event, sponsored by the Christchurch City
Council and organised for over 50 years by the YMCA. The Salvation Army
provide the music and our singing is led by a choir.
Tapers and carol books are on sale at the site.
