Duty Manager

You must be able to:

  • Greet all guests and follow check in/check out procedures
  • Provide supervision for night staff
  • Be responsible for completing all day end processes and shift reports
  • Work evenings, weekends, Saturday/Sunday and public holidays
  • Be able to communicate with a diverse range of people
  • Have the ability to think quickly and solve problems on their feet

Receptionist

You must be able to:

  • Perform face to face, phone and online  bookings/reservations
  • Be responsible for balancing all transactions and takings at the end of shift 
  • Work evenings, weekends, Saturday/Sunday and public holidays, with flexibility to fill other shifts when required.

Social Media Leader

City YMCA, Part Time 20 hours per week
We have a unique position available to grow our connection with customers and potential customers through digital platforms. Do you have community passion inside of yourself and a strong sense of deliverability? Then this might be the job for you.

You must be able to:

  • Work collaboratively within all areas of the YMCA to build social media campaigns that drive awareness and engagement with the YMCA.
  • Manage all social media advertising from strategy to placement to analysis.
  • Assist in developing the connection with other digital and CMS systems within the organisation for a better digital customer experience.

Thursday Club Assistant

City YMCA, Part Time 4 hours per week
Thursday Club is looking for a charismatic ‘Club Assistant’ to help deliver a safe, creative and enjoyable environment for the Thursday Club participants. This role would be best suited to a student working towards a people-focused degree such as Social Work.

Thursday Club is a social get-together for intellectually disabled adults which runs every week during the school term, with all kinds of activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, bowling, movies and indoor climbing. We also go on field trips to various venues around the city. The Thursday Club programme runs from the City YMCA during the school term for 8–10 weeks, from 4pm to 6pm on Thursdays.

We are looking for someone with a passion for people with differing levels of ability, young people, and seeing positive change in their lives through empowerment and opportunity; a thorough understanding of the social model of disability; strong written and verbal communication skills; an ability to communicate to all people – participants, caregivers, family members, other staff and external stakeholders alike; and a creative attitude and flexible approach to arising issues.

Volunteer Programme Instructors

YMCA Wainui Park
YMCA Wainui Park offers a unique volunteer work and training experience for aspiring outdoor instructors, tertiary students who require ‘work experience’ in the area of outdoor leadership, and young adults on their ‘overseas experience’ who have worked for outdoor centres or YMCAs in their home country.

We are currently recruiting volunteer instructional staff for the next season which starts in September 2018.

Volunteer programme staff who are committed for the season live on site in shared accommodation, and receive a small weekly expense allowance as well as training, meals, internet access, vehicle access and a ready-made group of like minded friends!

Holiday Programme Supervisors

YMCA City
We are always looking for passionate, outgoing and reliable individuals to supervise our busy school holiday programmes!

We need supervisors that are at least 20 years of age, have a current First Aid Certificate, and have a good understanding and experience of working with young people.

We currently run active, creative, performing and general programmes, which you will help create, plan and develop.

This is full time work while school holidays are running, with up to 6 hours of additional paid training prior to the programme starting.

Holiday Programme Volunteers

YMCA City
Working on a holiday programme is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills and gain experience working with people. Holiday programmes are a huge amount of fun and a very valuable way to give back to the community and gain invaluable skills. Each school holiday period the YMCA runs up to 8 different programmes all over Christchurch City!

As a volunteer leader you will work as part of a team, alongside and experienced supervisor, to run the programme. You can expect to get involved wi the kids, manage your group and the behaviours, role model a positive attitude and have a great experience!

Some of the activities you may be involved in are: movies, tenpin bowling, mini-golf, swimming, Antarctic Centre, sports, art & crafts, outdoor adventure days, inddor climbing and the list goes on! You will be required between the hours of 8:30am to 5pm, and must be 15yrs or over.
