Housekeepers

City YMCA, fixed term, part time
We are looking for housekeepers to join our dynamic crew on a fixed term, part-time basis over the busy summer period. We are open seven days a week and you must be flexible to work weekends and public holidays.

Successful applicants will have:

  • The ability to work as part of a team and follow directions
  • The ability to work under pressure and to a deadline
  • Exceptional personal hygiene and grooming standards
  • Attention to detail

 
Duties include:

  • Clean all allocated YMCA facilities including guest facilities, public bathrooms plus outside areas.
  • Undertake special projects.
  • Follow correct procedures for all lost and found property items.
  • Report all maintenance problems, damaged equipment and missing items.

This position is fixed term until 31 March 2020, however there is potential for it to turn into a permanent position.

We are looking for a Centre Manager to provide leadership and oversight to all matters pertaining to the successful operation of our ECE operation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, can walk the talk of the YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring, and have a sound head for the ‘business’ side of running a preschool.

Group Exercise Instructors

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated REPS registered Group Exercise instructor, then we are keen to hear from you.

We are currently recruiting for instructors to help us deliver our group exercise programme across both the Bishopdale and City Y locations, who are experienced in leading exercise classes for older adults, circuit, spin, boxing, step, yoga, Pilates, pump, or any other exciting class formats.

Volunteer Programme Instructors

YMCA Wainui Park
YMCA Wainui Park offers a unique volunteer work and training experience for aspiring outdoor instructors, tertiary students who require ‘work experience’ in the area of outdoor leadership, and young adults on their ‘overseas experience’ who have worked for outdoor centres or YMCAs in their home country.

We are currently recruiting volunteer instructional staff for the next season which starts in September 2019.

Volunteer programme staff who are committed for the season live on site in shared accommodation, and receive a small weekly expense allowance as well as training, meals, internet access, vehicle access and a ready-made group of like minded friends!

Holiday Programme Supervisors

YMCA City
We are always looking for passionate, outgoing and reliable individuals to supervise our busy school holiday programmes!

We need supervisors that are at least 20 years of age, have a current First Aid Certificate, and have a good understanding and experience of working with young people.

We currently run active, creative, performing and general programmes, which you will help create, plan and develop.

This is full time work while school holidays are running, with up to 6 hours of additional paid training prior to the programme starting.

Holiday Programme Volunteers

YMCA City
Working on a holiday programme is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills and gain experience working with people. Holiday programmes are a huge amount of fun and a very valuable way to give back to the community and gain invaluable skills. Each school holiday period the YMCA runs up to 8 different programmes all over Christchurch City!

As a volunteer leader you will work as part of a team, alongside and experienced supervisor, to run the programme. You can expect to get involved wi the kids, manage your group and the behaviours, role model a positive attitude and have a great experience!

Some of the activities you may be involved in are: movies, tenpin bowling, mini-golf, swimming, Antarctic Centre, sports, art & crafts, outdoor adventure days, inddor climbing and the list goes on! You will be required between the hours of 8:30am to 5pm, and must be 15yrs or over.
