Health & Fitness Team Leader

City Y & Bishopdale, full time
We are seeking a vibrant, motivated person with a passion for fitness, a flair for providing exceptional standards and a proven ability to lead operations and staff, overseeing the fitness centers at both Bishopdale and City YMCA. This energetic and positive person will take our health & fitness team and centers to the next level. The perfect candidate will have a passion for helping people achieve their health and fitness goals while creating a welcoming and supportive culture. The key outcomes of this role are:

  • Continuing and growing the culture where people feel included and part of a wider community
  • Leading and supporting a team who are providing exceptional customer service

With summer approaching we are looking for an outstanding person to join our reception team in a part time,fixed basis over the busy summer months.

    Group Exercise Instructors

    YMCA Bishopdale & City
    If you are an enthusiastic and motivated REPS registered Group Exercise instructor, then we are keen to hear from you.

    We are currently recruiting for instructors to help us deliver our group exercise programme across both the Bishopdale and City Y locations, who are experienced in leading exercise classes for older adults, circuit, spin, boxing, step, yoga, Pilates, pump, or any other exciting class formats.

    Volunteer Programme Instructors

    YMCA Wainui Park
    YMCA Wainui Park offers a unique volunteer work and training experience for aspiring outdoor instructors, tertiary students who require ‘work experience’ in the area of outdoor leadership, and young adults on their ‘overseas experience’ who have worked for outdoor centres or YMCAs in their home country.

    We are currently recruiting volunteer instructional staff for the next season which starts in September 2019.

    Volunteer programme staff who are committed for the season live on site in shared accommodation, and receive a small weekly expense allowance as well as training, meals, internet access, vehicle access and a ready-made group of like minded friends!

    Holiday Programme Supervisors

    YMCA City
    We are always looking for passionate, outgoing and reliable individuals to supervise our busy school holiday programmes!

    We need supervisors that are at least 20 years of age, have a current First Aid Certificate, and have a good understanding and experience of working with young people.

    We currently run active, creative, performing and general programmes, which you will help create, plan and develop.

    This is full time work while school holidays are running, with up to 6 hours of additional paid training prior to the programme starting.

    Holiday Programme Volunteers

    YMCA City
    Working on a holiday programme is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills and gain experience working with people. Holiday programmes are a huge amount of fun and a very valuable way to give back to the community and gain invaluable skills. Each school holiday period the YMCA runs up to 8 different programmes all over Christchurch City!

    As a volunteer leader you will work as part of a team, alongside and experienced supervisor, to run the programme. You can expect to get involved wi the kids, manage your group and the behaviours, role model a positive attitude and have a great experience!

    Some of the activities you may be involved in are: movies, tenpin bowling, mini-golf, swimming, Antarctic Centre, sports, art & crafts, outdoor adventure days, inddor climbing and the list goes on! You will be required between the hours of 8:30am to 5pm, and must be 15yrs or over.
