Whanaungatanga Weekend Camp

14 April 2017 - 17 April 2017
YMCA Wainui Park

Would you and your child like to build on your relationship
through shared experiences and working together,
to deepen your family connection?

The Whanaungatanga Weekend at YMCA Wainui Park Camp has been designed to give one parent and one of their children the opportunity to spend some quality time together, working out tasks as a family unit.

Times have changed greatly and with new times come new habits, sets of behaviour and attitudes that are very different from the ones we were used to when we were kids. In the world we live in now, we are often distracted by work commitments, technology and extracurricular activities. This extended weekend retreat is an opportunity to get back to the basics of life and reconnect with each other.

Not only do we give you the experience of climbing up the high ropes, kayaking around Banks Peninsula or flying down the flying fox, we will help build your
family unit’s confidence, trust, self esteem and give you both an opportunity to just be kids! Enjoy spending time with each other, scream and laugh with joy, take a literal leap into the ocean and realise what you are both really made of – with no distractions of the new times we now live in.

YMCA Wainui Park wants to take you back to basics and give you a true experience by showing what impact the outdoors can have on us all. Each family can bring along one caregiver and one child (aged 8-17 years). A reasonable level of fitness is required – the activities include walking up a hill, kayaking and an overnight camp under the stars. If this is an issue please feel free to contact us as we may be able to tweak options so that you and your child are still able to attend.

Take the opportunity to spend time one-on-one, get to know each other again in a “device free” environment and take in the beauty that is Wainui.
