Camping Ground
The YMCA Wainui Park campground is the only campground in Wainui and is located about 1km up the Valley Road, just past the main entrance/office of Wainui Park.
Featuring 2 toilets, 2 showers, a basic kitchen and 2 'powered' sites - this is not a campground with lots of amenities. This site ideally suits groups of 30 - 60).
What it has to offer in spades is:
- beautiful environment: a number of camping spots separated by trees, a stream, bridges, stairs etc.
- large population of native birdlife - especially woodpigeons.
- separate area to other facilities at Wainui Park - your own space from other groups.
- close to beach but far enough away to have shelter from the Easterlies and Southerlies.
- access to Wainui Park programme activities, staff expertise and office as required.
Our camp ground is open to the public for camping but is also open to schools and other groups for booking exclusively.
If you wish to camp casually with friends or family please book in advance - especially if you plan to arrive late or wish to come during school terms 1 or 4 - to avoid disappointment.
Camping Prices
Groups 10 people or less: $9 per person per night.
Groups 20 people or less: $7 per person per night.
Groups 21 people or more: $5 per person per night.
Christmas/Holiday rate: $10 per person per night.
Children under 5 years 1/2 price.
