Donations
The Christchurch YMCA is a charitable trust and donations are recognised by Inland Revenue.
Although we are able to generate much of our income from fees we need a reasonable level of donations to survive. Some of our programmes, particularly in the youth area, can never recover the full costs without creating a major financial barrier to participation. We also subsidise many individual participants or families where they cannot afford the full fee but would benefit from the activity. They pay what they can and the balance comes from our donations funds.
Periodically
we have a major capital fundraising project for a new facility such as
the construction of our Wainui Heights conference centre at our camp
site. Our most recent project was a challenging $9m new recreation and
youth centre at Bishopdale. We are still hoping to raise a total of $5m
towards the cost of this development and further donations would be
welcomed.
If you wish to assist the YMCA with financial support there are several ways you can do it.
- You can use the secure donation form and credit card on the web (hosted on our secure https server).
- You can send a donation to us at P O Box 2004, Christchurch.
- You can sign up a bank AP with regular payments from your bank at the amounts and interval you choose. We can supply forms.
- You can make a commitment for more than 1 year and we can send you a reminder on due dates.
- You can email us on ceo@ymcachch.org.nz or ring the YMCA on 03 3660689 and discuss your possible support with us. Ask for the Chief Executive Officer if reception is unable to help. If he is not there you can leave a message on his voice mail and we will get back to you.
