Gymnastics

The YMCA provides a number of progressive recreational gymnastics classes for 18 months - 14 year old children with any interest in doing gym. All classes are held throughout the four tem school year. Each term has eight weeks of classes. Timetables for classes are available from the Bishopdale YMCA 3598320.

Pre-School Gymnastics 18 months - 4 years

The YMCA's gym programme caters for pre-school children. The classes are designed to help children develop their motor skills, confidence and body awareness using a variety of equipment and activities. These are fun orientated classes that incorporate song, dance and games. We also have a number of theme classes throughout the year.

The classes are taken by our experienced instructors. Care-givers are required to participate and work one on one with their child. These classes offer a special and rewarding time for you and your child.

We have four levels of classes:

Small MunchWeeds	2,3 and 4yrs	45mins

Small MunchWeeds

This is a combination class, for 2,3 and 4 year olds, where families can participate in classes together. This class is available on Saturday mornings.

Recreational Gymnastics 5 - 14 years

This programme is non competitive and incorporates the major gymnastic apparatus, along with a variety of fun and challenging activities.

Our National YMCA skill cards allow children to progress from one level to the next at their own pace in a friendly, encouraging environment. Children are also able to work towards NZGA incentive award badges.

The age groupings will indicate what level your child should be in. Children move through the levels depending on experience and ability.

Level 1-2	5-6yrs	new or experienced
Level 3-4	7-8yrs	new or experienced
Level 3 and up	8-14yrs	experienced
