Group Exercise

Our programme caters for all fitness levels and abilities, of all ages and sizes. Caring, well trained instructors and small class numbers ensure a friendly, supportive and safe environment in which we will help you to achieve your goals. At the YMCA you are more than just a number. Take a look at the following programmes, see if any catch your attention.

Fitness Classes (City)

Boxing Circuit - A 40min medium-high intensity cardio circuit using aerobic and resistance stations, low weight, high repetition and boxing, simple but strong. There is no fancy foot work here. It's a great aerobic and muscle condition class and awesome fun. Gloves and focus pads supplied.

Step - A variety of step moves and combinations ensure an excellent work-out with intensity variable dependent on step height and optional propulsions. A great class for all participants.

Pump - A barbell workout to improve muscular endurance and to reshape and strengthen your body. Choose your own wieght and work at your own level. Recommended for all.

Flow Yoga - Yoga poses are linked with fluid and rythmic movement. The concentration, breathing and body-weight resistance improves flexibility, strength, alertness and energy levels.

Spin Classes - Indoor cycle training on stationary bikes. 17 riders follow the instructor on a simulated ride incorporating seated, standing climbs, flats and sprints. Variable intensity options provides great fun and enjoyment. Not just for cyclists, this class is great for cardiovascular fitness, weight loss and toning.

Pilates - Tones, streamlines and realigns the body. Improves posture, flexibility and muscle balance. Introduction courses and intermediate classes available. Phone for times and dates.

Contract Classes

We are able to offer specialised classes catering for your sports, school or community group, for all ages and abilities at either your venue or ours. If you are looking for an indication of how effective your training is going, what better way than having a fitness assessment.

If you are a keen sports person we can design a special programme suited for your sport.

Fitness Classes (Bishopdale)

Pump Intro - A 30 minute intro to Pump techniques.

Cardio Kick - Cardiobased boxing drills to strengthen, challenge and energyse you.

X Training - Awesome combination of Low Impact, Step Basic and Knock Out.

TBT - Targeting Tummy, Butts and Thighs.  A low impact workout for toning those problem areas.

Flow Yoga - Yoga poses linked in flowing movement; excellent for stretching, strength and stress release.

Circuit - A series of stations designed to improve overall strength and stamina in this action filled class.  Suitable for all fitness levels.

Optional health and fitness membership includes all aerobic/step/circuit classes, fitness assessments and personal programmes. $4.00 surcharge applies to spin bike classes.
