The YMCA offers children and young people fun and educational activities to keep them happy and active during every school holiday of the year. The different holiday programmes we have available are day programmes, before and after programmes, youth programmes and camps.
The YMCA is a values based organisation. Our values are Honesty, Responsibility, Respect and Caring. These values drive our programme content, how we manage behaviour, our commitment to sustainability, and the way we interact with participants, their whanau, our volunteers and staff.

Our Promise to Parents & Caregivers
We have been running successful, safe and high quality holiday programmes for children aged 5 years to 17 years for over 100 years.
Our aim is to provide children and young people with a challenging and enriching environment that will stimulate their development, give them the opportunity to learn new skills in a supportive atmosphere, and the chance to make new friends. We are also passionate about getting out and exploring our beautiful city and harbour basin; utilising the natural environments we have all around us.
OSCAR Subsidy Approved
We have Government Approval to run OSCAR programmes - which means two things for you and your children:
We have been thoroughly checked by an external body to ensure that our staff are appropriately qualified, trained and supervised, our programmes are managed well to minimise unnecessary risk, and the content and quality of the programmes is appropriate for the age and development of the children/youth involved.
You are able to access a subsidy towards the fees from Work and Income NZ (if you are eligible under the 'Working for Families' Scheme).
Before taking any forms for signature to Bishopdale, please ring 3598320 to ensure there is someone present who has authorisation to sign. The City reception has an authorised signee present at all times.
Staff and Leadership
All of the staff involved in running our OSCAR programmes are enthusiastic and passionate about working with children. At the heart of our training process are YMCA core values - from which all our decisions, behaviour management systems and code of ethics are based: Honesty, Responsibility, Respect and Caring.
