Oscar subsidies

Most of our day programmes are approved for an OSCAR Subsidy.  Eligible families can claim  to WINZ for partial or full subsidies. The programmes that have this approval are stated in our brochure.  Full payment for the programme must be made at the YMCA when you register. WINZ begin processing applications four weeks before programmes begin.  Forms must be signed by us before WINZ will process the forms.   If you receive a subsidy the YMCA will post a cheque to you at after the completion of the programme. If this places you in a difficult financial situation please contact the Youth & Outdoors Department for a simple application form to have this requirement waived. In the case of this waiver being granted there will be very specific requirements in regard to attendance, payment and responsibilities for completing the WINZ paperwork in a timely fashion.

YMCA Subsidy

If you are ineligible for an OSCAR subsidy but due to genuine reasons are unable to afford the full fee for a programme please contact the Youth & Outdoors Manger for a YMCA Subsidy application form.

International students

If you are registering a student who is not a NZ resident or citizen but in NZ on a student or visitors visa, the cost of the programme will be 45% more than the advertised price. (For Ski Camp there will be a 20% increase). This is because the price is currently subsidised for our local community, by our local community and the NZ government. We encourage cultural diversity on our programmes but must also ensure that we are able to manage the challenges that different languages and needs can create. Please do not be offended if we ask for proof of visa status.

HFA Career Support & children with special needs.

We love having children with special needs on our programme and seeing them achieve great things! Children who are eligible for carer support and/or have a special need or disability are welcome on our programmes if they do not require a one-on-one carer to maintain our safety and behaviour standards. If they do require a one-on-one carer, it is the parents' responsibility to provide and pay for a suitably skilled person to be with the child for the duration of the programme. The carer will be required to attend a two hour policies and procedures training session as well as be police vetted. Please note that HFA carer support days do not cover the cost of a one-on-one carer, just the cost of the programme as it is before other government grants or donations from the public).
