By making a donation on behalf of a friend or family member, you will be able to select from one of our Gift Card range. Send this card to them to let them know that a donation has been made to a worthy YMCA community programme in their name!
Each card has a theme relating to one of our programmes and contains a testimonial from a previous recipient of our scholarship fund, to show how much this assistance has helped them in a difficult time. There is also space on the inside of the card for your own personal message.
While these are perfect Christmas gifts, they can be given at any time of the year.
Thursday Club is a recreational club for adults with disabilities.
We host social gatherings for intellectually and physically disabled adults every week during the school term, run by a very enthusiastic group of youth volunteers!.
The goal is to introduce participants to some fun and creative challenges in a safe and friendly environment, where they will have the opportunity to learn some new skills and gain confidence.
We offer education programmes for young people aged 13-18 years, mainly for students who haven’t thrived in a mainstream school The purpose of these programmes is to re-engage students and offer them opportunities to obtain meaningful qualifications while learning how to learn.
Even though all of our programmes are free, the students we work with still need supporting in terms of getting to and from class, having resources like stationery and knowing that someone out there cares and believes in them!
Children can come to camp at Wainui Park and participate in the vast array of fun activities led by our outstanding local and international volunteer instructors. During the winter months when camp at Wainui is not practical, we offer two residential ski camps in the school holidays.
While we keep the pricing as affordable as possible for these camps, they are still expensive for some families and we try to subsidise as many children as possible so that this experience is available to anyone in the community.
Our award winning Life Fit programme offers qualified, experienced and caring instructors run classes catering for mature participants or those new to exercise.
Regular social excursions are organised by the co-ordinator, which helps the participants set fitness goals and gives them something to work towards. This social interaction is especially important as some of our older members become socially isolated by mobility issues and the loss of loved ones.
One card and one envelope from your chosen theme will be sent to the address you have provided, once your payment details are confirmed through our Givealitte donation site.
