Accommodation & Functions Manager

City YMCA
We are looking for someone to take up the opportunity to manage our dynamic accommodation and conference/functions facility in central Christchurch.

The successful applicant for this position will have strong experience in the accommodation sector, with a very good knowledge of the use of internet booking sites and other mechanisms to improve yield and profitability. Supervisory level of experience for functions required. They will also have personal values which align with our organisation and excellent people skills.

The accommodation and functions manager will lead and inspire a team of professionals to exceed guests’ expectations on a daily basis. Involved in all aspects of the business this is an opportunity for a hands on manager to excel.

To be successful for the role you will need to bring:

  • Creativity and a sense for innovation

    Volunteer Programme Instructors

    YMCA Wainui Park
    YMCA Wainui Park offers a unique volunteer work and training experience for aspiring outdoor instructors, tertiary students who require ‘work experience’ in the area of outdoor leadership, and young adults on their ‘overseas experience’ who have worked for outdoor centres or YMCAs in their home country.

    We are currently recruiting volunteer instructional staff for the next season which starts in September 2016.

    Volunteer programme staff who are committed for the season live on site in shared accommodation, and receive a small weekly expense allowance as well as training, meals, internet access, vehicle access and a ready-made group of like minded friends!

    Holiday Programme Supervisors

    YMCA City
    We are always looking for passionate, outgoing and reliable individuals to supervise our busy school holiday programmes!

    We need supervisors that are at least 20 years of age, have a current First Aid Certificate, and have a good understanding and experience of working with young people.

    We currently run active, creative, performing and general programmes, which you will help create, plan and develop.

    This is full time work while school holidays are running, with up to 6 hours of additional paid training prior to the programme starting.

    Holiday Programme Volunteers

    YMCA City
    Working on a holiday programme is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills and gain experience working with people. Holiday programmes are a huge amount of fun and a very valuable way to give back to the community and gain invaluable skills. Each school holiday period the YMCA runs up to 8 different programmes all over Christchurch City!

    As a volunteer leader you will work as part of a team, alongside and experienced supervisor, to run the programme. You can expect to get involved wi the kids, manage your group and the behaviours, role model a positive attitude and have a great experience!

    Some of the activities you may be involved in are: movies, tenpin bowling, mini-golf, swimming, Antarctic Centre, sports, art & crafts, outdoor adventure days, inddor climbing and the list goes on! You will be required between the hours of 8:30am to 5pm, and must be 15yrs or over.
