Accounts Team Leader – Part Time

We are looking for a highly organised team leader to be part of and lead our accounts team, overseeing all incoming revenue, outgoing creditors, cashflow, payroll and banking.

This role is an existing part time position which serves as a critical support to the overall success of the YMCA Christchurch by providing leadership, support and practical contribution to the YMCA accounts department.

The Team Leader is responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of large numbers of transactions coming from multiple departments across multiple physical sites, and the processing of payroll for up to 200 employees. Working with a small but strong, effective and established administrative team, this role offers long term job security, good collegial support and opportunities to develop other skills if desired.

Hostel Receptionist – Part Time, Fixed Term

With the busy summer season approaching the Christchurch YMCA is currently looking for an outstanding person to join the reception team on a part time, fixed term basis.

Some of the duties involved include:

  • Greet all guests and follow check in/check out procedures
  • Perform face to face, phone and online bookings/reservations
  • Be familiar with and provide information on YMCA Health & Fitness facilities, our Youth Development Service programmes and all daily functions occurring at the Y
  • Be responsible for balancing all transactions and takings at the end of shift

To be considered for this role candidates should possess the following:

  • The ability to work evenings, Saturday/Sunday and public holidays, with flexibility to fill other shifts when required.
  • A work visa or have the right to work in NZ
  • The ability to work unsupervised. Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Provide outstanding customer service at all times

Our reception team work rostered shifts between 7 am to 10 pm – please note that the shifts we are looking to fill include weekend and evening shifts, approx. 18-40 hours per week. This position is fixed term until 31st of March, however there is potential for it to turn into a permanent position.

Cleaner – Part Time

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic team member to join our Housekeeping team. The hours of work will be between 20 to 40 hrs a week primarily between 7am and 6pm and will include weekends.

This person will be responsible for –

  • The overall cleanliness of our multipurpose facility (gym, theatre, studios, accommodation and offices)
  • General day to day cleaning and any special projects

This person must have –

  • The right to work in NZ
  • Good attention to detail
  • The flexibility to work weekends
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • A friendly and respectful mannertful manner

Support Tutor – Part Time

The YMCA is looking for a dedicated person who likes working with and has a genuine respect and enjoyment for young people, is a team player, can think on their feet, has a sense of humour and likes to try new things. 

They will understand the role of a tutor, have worked in the Education Sector and have the relevant qualifications as specified in the job description.

This role is a part time, salaried position, 25 hour per week role, based at the City YMCA in Hereford Street.

Volunteer Programme Instructors

YMCA Wainui Park
YMCA Wainui Park offers a unique volunteer work and training experience for aspiring outdoor instructors, tertiary students who require ‘work experience’ in the area of outdoor leadership, and young adults on their ‘overseas experience’ who have worked for outdoor centres or YMCAs in their home country.

We are currently recruiting volunteer instructional staff for the next season which starts in September 2017.

Volunteer programme staff who are committed for the season live on site in shared accommodation, and receive a small weekly expense allowance as well as training, meals, internet access, vehicle access and a ready-made group of like minded friends!

Holiday Programme Supervisors

YMCA City
We are always looking for passionate, outgoing and reliable individuals to supervise our busy school holiday programmes!

We need supervisors that are at least 20 years of age, have a current First Aid Certificate, and have a good understanding and experience of working with young people.

We currently run active, creative, performing and general programmes, which you will help create, plan and develop.

This is full time work while school holidays are running, with up to 6 hours of additional paid training prior to the programme starting.

Holiday Programme Volunteers

YMCA City
Working on a holiday programme is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills and gain experience working with people. Holiday programmes are a huge amount of fun and a very valuable way to give back to the community and gain invaluable skills. Each school holiday period the YMCA runs up to 8 different programmes all over Christchurch City!

As a volunteer leader you will work as part of a team, alongside and experienced supervisor, to run the programme. You can expect to get involved wi the kids, manage your group and the behaviours, role model a positive attitude and have a great experience!

Some of the activities you may be involved in are: movies, tenpin bowling, mini-golf, swimming, Antarctic Centre, sports, art & crafts, outdoor adventure days, inddor climbing and the list goes on! You will be required between the hours of 8:30am to 5pm, and must be 15yrs or over.
