Reception Manager

The YMCA is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic team member to manage our reception team, in this full time, permanent role.

The reception manager will be responsible for –

  • The overall day to day running of reception
  • Managing a team of around 10 employees
  • Recruitment, induction, training and rosters
  • General administration duties
  • Booking and hosting groups and conferences
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with all
  •  
    The reception manager must have –

  • A minimum of 3 years relative experience
  • The right to work in NZ
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • A professional and well-presented manner
  • The ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
  • A warm, welcoming and friendly personality
  • The ability to solve problems quickly and on their feet
  • Empathy and understanding of the YMCA and its community focus

    Part Time Group Fitness Team Leader

    City Y & Bishopdale
    The YMCA is looking for a vibrant, motivated person with a passion for fitness, a flair for providing exceptional standards and a proven ability to lead a professional Group Fitness programme, to join our team at the YMCA Bishopdale Recreation Centre and City YMCA.

    We are looking to develop our vibrant, professional, fun and participant-focused Group Fitness and Life Fit programmes, and in this role you will be responsible for the leadership of these programmes.

    This position will lead the Group Fitness, Life Fit and Mind Body teams and will enhance our group fitness experience through timetabling, instructor training and measuring customer satisfaction, whilst looking for opportunities to grow participant numbers and focus on customer satisfaction. This position will establish strong relationships and be collaborative with the Health & Fitness team to achieve mutual benefit and success for both our YMCA fitness centers – at Bishopdale and in the City, whilst adhering at all times to YMCA values and purpose.

    Part Time Evening Cleaner

    City Y
    The YMCA is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic team member to join our Housekeeping team. The hours of work will be between 20 to 40 hrs a week primarily at night.

    This person will be responsible for –

    • The overall cleanliness of our multipurpose facility (gym, theatre, studios, accommodation and offices)
    • General day to day cleaning and any special projects

    This person must have –

  • The right to work in NZ
  • Good attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • A friendly and respectful manner

    Previous experience is desired but not essential as full training will be given.

    Volunteer Programme Instructors

    YMCA Wainui Park
    YMCA Wainui Park offers a unique volunteer work and training experience for aspiring outdoor instructors, tertiary students who require ‘work experience’ in the area of outdoor leadership, and young adults on their ‘overseas experience’ who have worked for outdoor centres or YMCAs in their home country.

    We are currently recruiting volunteer instructional staff for the next season which starts in September 2016.

    Volunteer programme staff who are committed for the season live on site in shared accommodation, and receive a small weekly expense allowance as well as training, meals, internet access, vehicle access and a ready-made group of like minded friends!

    Holiday Programme Supervisors

    YMCA City
    We are always looking for passionate, outgoing and reliable individuals to supervise our busy school holiday programmes!

    We need supervisors that are at least 20 years of age, have a current First Aid Certificate, and have a good understanding and experience of working with young people.

    We currently run active, creative, performing and general programmes, which you will help create, plan and develop.

    This is full time work while school holidays are running, with up to 6 hours of additional paid training prior to the programme starting.

    Holiday Programme Volunteers

    YMCA City
    Working on a holiday programme is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills and gain experience working with people. Holiday programmes are a huge amount of fun and a very valuable way to give back to the community and gain invaluable skills. Each school holiday period the YMCA runs up to 8 different programmes all over Christchurch City!

    As a volunteer leader you will work as part of a team, alongside and experienced supervisor, to run the programme. You can expect to get involved wi the kids, manage your group and the behaviours, role model a positive attitude and have a great experience!

    Some of the activities you may be involved in are: movies, tenpin bowling, mini-golf, swimming, Antarctic Centre, sports, art & crafts, outdoor adventure days, inddor climbing and the list goes on! You will be required between the hours of 8:30am to 5pm, and must be 15yrs or over.
