Part Time Accounts Team Member

We are looking for a highly organised team member, with proven experience, to be part of our accounts team.

This role provides the efficient and accurate processing of large numbers of transactions coming from multiple departments across multiple physical sites, and the processing of payroll for up to 200 employees. 

Working with a small but strong, effective and established administrative team, this role offers long term job security, good collegial support and opportunities to develop other skills if desired. 

Hours can be negotiated but ideally we are looking for someone to work 15 hours per week, 5 hours per day, Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings, and extra hours when covering other administrative staff when on leave.

Youth Development Manager

We are looking for someone who has demonstrated experience and a proven ability in working with young people in a strengths based manner.  They must have an understanding of the youth sector – particularly strengths based youth work practice, youth employment and youth development/participation – backed up by an appropriate tertiary qualification.

We require this person to provide leadership, guidance and direction to their staff in order to achieve positive youth participation and empowerment programmes, specifically: 

  • OSCAR (holiday programmes) and the development of the hundreds of volunteer young people who lead and deliver these, and
  • EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS for young people who for a range of reasons need support and assistance to enter the workforce.

You must be able to:

  • Think creatively and be able to work unsupervised.
  • The ability use your own initiative and problem solve on the go.
  • Enjoy a job which mixes working with children and young people with an administrative paper war.
  • Work within a team and be willing to “pitch in” when required with other tasks.

Volunteer Programme Instructors

YMCA Wainui Park
YMCA Wainui Park offers a unique volunteer work and training experience for aspiring outdoor instructors, tertiary students who require ‘work experience’ in the area of outdoor leadership, and young adults on their ‘overseas experience’ who have worked for outdoor centres or YMCAs in their home country.

We are currently recruiting volunteer instructional staff for the next season which starts in September 2018.

Volunteer programme staff who are committed for the season live on site in shared accommodation, and receive a small weekly expense allowance as well as training, meals, internet access, vehicle access and a ready-made group of like minded friends!

Holiday Programme Supervisors

YMCA City
We are always looking for passionate, outgoing and reliable individuals to supervise our busy school holiday programmes!

We need supervisors that are at least 20 years of age, have a current First Aid Certificate, and have a good understanding and experience of working with young people.

We currently run active, creative, performing and general programmes, which you will help create, plan and develop.

This is full time work while school holidays are running, with up to 6 hours of additional paid training prior to the programme starting.

Holiday Programme Volunteers

YMCA City
Working on a holiday programme is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills and gain experience working with people. Holiday programmes are a huge amount of fun and a very valuable way to give back to the community and gain invaluable skills. Each school holiday period the YMCA runs up to 8 different programmes all over Christchurch City!

As a volunteer leader you will work as part of a team, alongside and experienced supervisor, to run the programme. You can expect to get involved wi the kids, manage your group and the behaviours, role model a positive attitude and have a great experience!

Some of the activities you may be involved in are: movies, tenpin bowling, mini-golf, swimming, Antarctic Centre, sports, art & crafts, outdoor adventure days, inddor climbing and the list goes on! You will be required between the hours of 8:30am to 5pm, and must be 15yrs or over.
